Behind the art
Domenico is a true artist, everything he touches just feels curated. Before his apprenticeship with Nico, Dom was doing a bit of everything: running his own graphic design clients, building custom wood furniture, drawing, designing. Anything that could be made to look good, Dom was already making look good.
Nico originally reached out to him to manage Icon Tattoo.
I knew the kid was organized, well-spoken, well-presented. I knew he had an eye, I just didn’t know how good until I sat down with him. Right away I thought, this kid sounds a lot like me.
Putting that behind a desk felt like a waste, so Nico offered him an apprenticeship instead.
Since then, Dom has turned out to be one of the hardest workers in the room, though it's easy to outwork everyone when you're good at nearly everything. His first oil painting, his first pass on fake skin, his first real tattoos: every one of them landed at a level most artists don't reach in a lifetime. His specialty is still taking shape, but the range is already obvious, photorealism, portraiture, micro-realism, American Traditional. Whatever he decides to become, it’s going to be worth watching.
